2024 - Scarecrows in Hartwell!

Come on down to Hartwell, GA where our creativity and Georgia Pride will be on display this year through our annual Scarecrow Competition!  The Scarecrows will be up starting on September 22nd and will remain up throughout the month of October.

1. Participation in the Scarecrow Bash is free and everyone is welcome to participate.  
2. The Scarecrow Committee retains the right to remove any entry that is considered not to be in good taste.
3. Scarecrows and props must be maintained by the creators throughout the month of October. Please check your Scarecrow regularly for any safety and design malfunctions.
4. You can begin putting up your Scarecrows on Sept 22nd.  Scarecrows should be in place by October 1st if you want to be included in the judging!  
5. Scarecrows will remain in place through October 31st.  Please remove all Scarecrows by Sunday, November 3rd.
6. To be eligible for winning a prize, you will need an official registration sign. If you already have a registration sign from years past, you can re-use it. If you need a new sign, the cost is $25. Please make checks payable to Hartwell Main Street and bring check and registration form to City Hall. You will be assigned an identification number at the time the sign is created. Hold on to your sign for future years of Scarecrows!
7. Voting boxes for the People’s Choice Award will be located around the square. Official ballots will only be available from a printed edition of The Hartwell Sun. Those printing their own ballots to “stuff the ballot box” will not be counted. If you do not receive The Hartwell Sun at home, you can pick up a copy at the Hartwell Sun office
8. Judging will be done for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners by a special committee of outside guests.

WHAT CAN WE WIN? TAKE A LOOK AT THESE PRIZES!!!!!

1st Place - $300,  2nd Place - $200,  3rd Place - $100, and People’s Choice - $100

Registration forms must be submitted by October 1st to be considered by the Judges.
